What if I have been deferred to the regular pool?

Dear VI Form -

What if I have been deferred from the early pool to the regular pool?

Great question! First, let your college counselor know.

Next, OK, you are still alive and in the running for that college. As soon
as you can (but definitely within the week), sit down and compose a
handwritten note to the college. Thank them for continuing to consider
your application, give them an update of activities and classes you have
been enjoying since you sent your application, and let them know you look
forward to staying in touch. This can be five sentences total; it does not
need to be long.

Finally, if you have a teacher in whose class you have been making
particularly exciting intellectual strides, consider asking him or her to
write an additional recommendation for you. If you are not sure, chat with
your counselor about it.

Remember that a deferral is most likely not a reflection on how well you
prepared your application; don't feel the need to toss out what you have
been doing and reinvent your whole process. We are excited to work with
you as you develop great news for April.

Sincerely,

The college counselors
