Congratulations on the hard work you have done to prepare well thought out
and balanced lists. You are each in great shape for the winter and spring.
As you go home for break, please review your college list with your
parents, double checking that your parents also see these colleges as good
fits for you. To set yourself up for a sane and happy spring, it can be
especially helpful to, as a family, imagine yourself successful and happy
at each of your likely colleges.
Thank you also for preparing applications in advance of heading home. If
by some chance you did go home with just a few more applications to
complete, we suggest finishing and sending those right away, so you can
enjoy the bulk of vacation in the clear.
Our office will be closed from Monday, 12/22 - Monday, 1/4. Thanks to your
prompt requests to send, we will have mailed all of your materials for 1/1
(and a good deal for 1/15) by Friday, 12/19. If you have any last-minute
additions, please email Mrs. Fritz from 12/19 - 12/24 and Mr. Gilheany
from 12/26 - 1/3. We will be checking occasionally during those dates,
though it may take us a few days to get back to you. If you receive
college news over the break, please email the above counselor on duty
promptly. Please do not remove any colleges from your list without a
conversation with your college counselor - our perspective might help you
keep a balanced list, giving you the best set of choices in April.
Again, thank you for the perspective and effort you have brought to your
applications and to supporting each other. You make St. Andrew's a healthy
