Remember to ask teachers for recommendations!

Hello V Formers !

As the year wraps up, please remember to ask two teachers if they would
write your college recommendations next year, and tell (if you have not
already) your college counselor who those folks are.

Who to ask?
-Two teachers
-Someone who has taught you your V Form year, or who has taught you before
who will definitely be teaching you your VI Form fall.
-Usually (but not always - check with your college counselor if you are
wondering) teachers from fairly different disciplines, for example one
from math or science and one from humanities.
-He/she does not have to know all about every aspect of your life; they
should be able to speak well to your academic effort and engagement.
-He/she does not have to have given you your highest grades necessarily.

How to ask?

"Hi Mr. Ferschimmle! I know it is early, but I've really enjoyed your
class and I was wondering if you would be willing to write a
recommendation for me next year for college?"

If Mr. Ferschimmle is worried he will be too busy, he'll let you know and
you can reconnect with your college counselor. In any case, thank him, and
if he has accepted, say "Is there any way I can help?"

That's it - thanks!

Your allies,
